CHW’s corporate and dispute resolution teams have both been recognised in the recently published “Chambers and Partners 2010 Global Guide to the World’s leading lawyers for business”.
According to Chambers, the CHW corporate team advises on a wide variety of matters, including funds work, restructuring and representing financial institutions on asset and corporate finance, with clients describing them as "flexible, understanding and willing to make extra effort”.
On an individual level, Ernest Morrison is described as “a client favourite”, with clients commenting that he is "very attentive and very responsive” and Jonathan Betts is described as being well known for giving "sound commercial advice" and having a "pragmatic and forward-looking approach”. In addition, Natalie Town has been included in this year’s list of recognised attorneys and is described as advising “big-name companies on general corporate matters”, with clients impressed by her "promptness and diligence".
In terms of its dispute resolution practice, Chambers describes CHW as having a large presence and appearing in a good number of cases on the island. The team is described as being able to "turn its hands to anything" but is especially praised for its trust work. Department head, David Kessaram, is singled out with sources commenting that they “appreciate that he understands the intricacies of the law completely” and praising “his excellent preparation”.
In response to the publication, Ernest Morrison commented “We are pleased that CHW continues to be recognised as one of the leading firms in Bermuda. These rankings reflect not only the hard work and professionalism of the individual attorneys listed but the efforts made by all of the firm’s lawyers and staff to provide consistently excellent legal services”.
